What This Site Is Not

The limits of what this website does, stated plainly.

This is a referral website

southwesttreecare.com.au is operated by Sugar Loaf Digital Pty Ltd (ABN 90 657 585 370). The site directs enquiries to independent third-party tree contractors working in the South West of Western Australia.

We do not provide tree removal, lopping, pruning, stump or clearing services ourselves. The work is carried out by contractors who are separate businesses, responsible for their own conduct, pricing, insurance and compliance.

We do not verify contractors

We do not inspect or verify a contractor's licensing, certification, insurance or competence. We expect contractors to represent themselves accurately, but we do not audit those representations.

Before you let anyone start work on your property, ask for and check:

  • Public liability insurance and a current certificate of currency.
  • Qualifications and tickets held by the people actually doing the climbing, cutting or machine operation.
  • Any licence or registration required for the specific work.
  • A written scope and price covering debris, stumps and making good.

Where a licensing authority applies, verify directly with that authority as well as with the contractor. Our terms and conditions set this out in more detail.

Agreements are between you and the contractor

Any agreement for work arranged through this website is made between you and the contractor. We are not a party to it. We will not be involved in disputes or disagreements between contractors and customers, and any such dispute should be resolved between those parties, with independent advice where appropriate.

We are not responsible for damages, losses or disagreements arising from the use of this website to connect contractors with customers.

Information on this site is general

Everything published here — species notes, seasonal advice, council and firebreak information, and the factors described in our cost guide — is general information intended to help you understand the work and ask better questions. It is not professional advice about your specific tree, your specific block or your specific approval obligations.

Tree assessment is site-specific. Rules about tree removal and native vegetation clearing differ between the City of Bunbury and the shires of Dardanup, Harvey, Capel, Busselton and Augusta-Margaret River, and they change. Always confirm current requirements with your own local government and seek qualified arboricultural advice before acting.

Accuracy and availability

We make reasonable efforts to keep the site accurate and current, but errors and omissions are possible and information can become out of date. We do not guarantee the accuracy or completeness of everything published, and users are encouraged to verify information with reliable sources.

We do not warrant that the website will be available uninterrupted or free of viruses or other harmful components, and we may add to, remove or modify content at any time without notice.

Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any special, direct, indirect, consequential or incidental loss or damage, whether in contract, negligence or otherwise, arising from use of this website or its content. Nothing here excludes any right or remedy under the Australian Consumer Law that cannot lawfully be excluded.

Safety

If a tree is touching or near a power line, do not approach it and do not engage a contractor to touch it — call Western Power on 13 13 51. For trees that have already failed, see our guidance on emergency storm work.
