Who this policy applies to
This policy covers personal information collected through southwesttreecare.com.au. The website is operated by Sugar Loaf Digital Pty Ltd (ABN 90 657 585 370), which acts as a referral service connecting people who need tree work with independent tree contractors in the South West of Western Australia.
We handle personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles.
What we collect
We collect only what is needed to pass an enquiry to a contractor and to run the website:
- Contact details you give us — your name, phone number, email address and the suburb or address of the property.
- Job details you give us — a description of the tree work you want, photographs if you send them, and any access or timing notes.
- Technical information collected automatically — IP address, browser and device type, pages viewed, referring page and time of visit, through standard web analytics.
We do not ask for, and you should not send us, payment card details, government identifiers, or health information. Any payment for tree work is arranged directly between you and the contractor.
Why we collect it
Your contact and job details are used to respond to your enquiry, to pass it to a contractor who covers your area, and to follow up on that referral. Technical information is used to keep the site working, understand which pages are useful and detect abuse.
We do not sell personal information, and we do not use it for unrelated marketing without your consent.
Who we disclose it to
- Tree contractors. This is the point of the service. When you make an enquiry, your name, contact details, property suburb or address and job description are passed to one or more independent contractors so they can quote. Those contractors are separate businesses responsible for their own privacy practices.
- Service providers. Website hosting, form handling, email, telephony and analytics providers that operate the site on our behalf.
- Where required by law. If we are compelled by a court, tribunal, regulator or law enforcement agency.
Some service providers store data outside Australia. Where that happens, we take reasonable steps to ensure the recipient handles the information consistently with the Australian Privacy Principles.
Cookies and analytics
The site uses cookies and similar technologies for basic functionality and for aggregate analytics. Embedded content, such as a Google map, may set its own cookies under that provider's terms. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings; the site will still work, though some embedded elements may not display.
Storage, security and retention
Information is stored on secured systems with access limited to people who need it to run the service. No online transmission or storage is completely secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect information against loss, misuse and unauthorised access.
Enquiry records are kept only as long as needed for the referral, for follow-up and for any legal or accounting obligation, and are then deleted or de-identified.
Accessing, correcting or deleting your information
You can ask us what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it if it is wrong, or ask us to delete it. Ring (08) 9785 0207 and say what you would like done. We will generally respond within 30 days, and we may need to confirm your identity first. If we refuse a request, we will tell you why.
Complaints
If you think your privacy has been mishandled, contact us first on the number above so we can look into it. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au or on 1300 363 992.
